The international news portal NucNet has published an article on the awarding of the Golden Order for Merits to the Jožef Stefan Institute on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the TRIGA research reactor.
Slovenia marked the 60th anniversary of the TRIGA reactor with a ceremony during which the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, awarded the Golden Order for Merits to the Jožef Stefan Institute for its exceptional contribution to the development of Slovenian science, nuclear safety, energy independence, and the international recognition of the country. The TRIGA reactor, which has been operating at the Jožef Stefan Institute since 1966, has over the decades become an important part of Slovenian research and education, as well as a key infrastructure for the development of knowledge in the fields of nuclear energy, medicine, radiation protection, and advanced technologies.
Institute Director Prof. Dr. Leon Cizelj highlighted in the article the broad development of the institute, made possible in part by the TRIGA research infrastructure. Head of the TRIGA reactor, Dr. Anže Jazbec, emphasized the importance of the reactor’s participation in international projects, including CERN and ITER.
